What If We Worried About The Important Things

I want to start this out by saying Happy New Year! What a great opportunity it is to have another day to make things right. Take the time you have been given and use it wisely. This past week, Friday January 3, my mom came into my room around 6 a.m. and woke me up and said I have bad news for you. I automatically thought oh my what has happened, she said Mr. Kenny passed away. For those of you who do not know Mr. Kenny he is the past police chief of Somerville. My past neighbor, and my adopted father. Most people I know now didn't really know that Mr. Kenny was really special to me and still is. The story starts when we moved to Woodbridge in 1999, 1 year after I was born, and this little girl, Chelsea, kept coming to the door of our house saying, "This is Lauren's house." Chelsea didn't understand that Lauren had moved just down the street and that we had bought the house. So as I grew older Chelsea, Jacob German, and I would all play together. Well really it was Jacob and Chelsea, and I just tagged along. I couldn't do everything that they did since there was a 5 year age difference. But man did I try. From trying to jump my bike with training wheels to getting lost in the backyard, I tried to be just like the big kids. But sometimes I would get tired and just go to Chelsea's house and Mr. Kenny would be on the couch asleep, so I'd climb up there and go to sleep next to him. Did he mind? I have no clue, but he never made me leave so I would imagine not. Some of the best memories I have are him spinning me around on the hard wood, and called it "Drunk Cat". Then we would try to spin him around. It didn't work very well. He was a big kid up until he got hurt. 6 years ago, Mr. Kenny was wrestling in a Charity event, where a brain injury occurred. I can remember going to the MED in Memphis, day after day to see him, to check on my Mr. Kenny. He under went multiple surgeries, multiple treatments at multiple facilities. The thing I remember most about Mr. Kenny was going every week to see him at the NHC in Somerville. Sometimes I would spend hours upon hours just sitting there talking to him, not knowing what would come out next. Mr. Kenny was my bingo partner. During my time visiting Mr. Kenny in the Nursing home I met many elderly men and women who impacted my life greatly, most of those who impacted me have gone to be with our lord. Mr. Clyde, Ms. Thelma (Maw Maw) and countless more. If it were not for Mr. Kenny I would not have found some of my strengths. I will miss my bingo partner, my Wii partner, my partner. My partner I will forever miss.
Okay, now onto the more important part that isn't sad.

The link above talks about the Unforgivable Sin. The sin of not standing up for what is right. Matthew chapter 25:34-40 Says,34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ 37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Jesus is saying you know those people in the hallway who are being bullied? Yeah that was me. Did you help me? Remember STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. When you realize that God has given you everything for free you will not be ashamed to give away your bowl of soup to a family in need. To the kids who have nothing.
I really feel that the video shared more than I could share at this time!
I challenge you to stand up for what is right, to serve the least of these.
Have a great week!
